5/10/11

Hot, too damn hot.  I woke up sweating, which is never fun, and from there its an uphill climb throughout the day, get hot drying off after the shower, hotter trying to put up pants, not to mention the coffee I didn't want to waste cause I made it last night, and I'm sweatin by the time I lock the door.  Mile walk to campus, black backpack, black backpack straps, and an epic case of sweaty back for a dynamic late entrance.  Just no good.  Currently 75 degrees F (may seem nice, but a 20 degree jump is too much), 15 mph wind from the SSE, and 10% coverage from alto stratus clouds way up there.
Temperature wise, we should stay the same, but there is a low pressure system coming our way from the west, so we may see some rain and thunderstorms early tonight into tomorrow.

5/5/11

I was right, though the rain and bad weather did last all day.  It's currently 50 degrees and there is a wind of 10 mph blowing in from the south.  There is about 60 percent cloud coverage, mostly cumulus clouds, but it looks like the rain is past us.
Tomorrow should be rather more pleasant than today, it looks like a high pressure dome will be drifting into the area, bringing us warm weather and clear, sunny skies.

5/4/11

Wow is it nice out there!  And my prediction was almost spot on as well! It is currently 65 degrees and there is a 7 mile an hour wind blowing in from the Southwest.
However, I'm starting to worry, because located to the Southwest is a low pressure system.  And right now, there are cirrus clouds covering about 50 percent of the sky.  I don't want to, but I'm afraid I have to predict some rain in our future.

Monday, May 2, 2011

5/2/11

A little chilly out there today, currently 38 degrees F, complete cloud coverage, and a light Southeast wind.
It looks like tomorrow should warm up a bit.  There is a high pressure system just Southwest of us, and it looks like thats gonna warm us up and clear up the skies a bit.

4/28/11

Some more 'craptastic' weather happening today, currently 44 degrees F with a wind of about 17 mph coming in from the Northwest.  Full cloud coverage(stratocumulus looks like), and I am a little surprised we havent had rain all day.
On a more positive note, its fairly likely that the wind will shift and bring in some high pressure up from the Southwest, which should clear up the skies and warm us up a bit.

4/26/11

It's raining!  Which isn't actually that exciting sicne it isn't storming and actually makes it feel colder than it is.  It's currently 40 degrees F with a light wind from the Northeast.  Strato nimbus clouds (I think) are covering 100 percent of the sky.
Sadly I don't see this weather changing anytime in the near future.  That light breeze from the Northeast will probably keep us in this cool, gloomy type weather for the next few days.

4/20/11

I was right!  Damnit!  I didn't want to be!  Its cold again, 41 degrees, and we have been having tiny snow flurries all day.  The wind is blowing in from the Northwest at 2 mph, and there are currently cumulus clouds covering the sky.
Because of the wind direction, I anticipate tomorrow to be very similar to today.  I sincerely hope it warms up, but I don't think its going to, not soon anyway.

4/19/11

Get this outta here!  Its cold, windy, cloudy, and It's probably gonna snow!
It's probably gonna snow!  And be cold all week!

Thursday, April 14, 2011

4/14/11

No rain yet, but I still think its coming.  Currently 47 degrees with a 15 mph wind from the East/Northeast.  There is a blanket of stratus clouds across the sky.
It seems there will be a low pressure system forming to our Southwest, which makes me further believe a rain is coming.  I don't think it will get much colder, so I do just expect rain, but mostly I just hope we don't get anymore snow.

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

4/13/11

Another nice day out, and I was partly right in my predictions, as well.  The cold front has seem to left us a tad bit colder, though not as much as I thought it would.  It is currently 60 degrees F, with a light wind from the Northwest.  There is a blanket of clouds covering the sky, mostly cirro stratus, but there does seem to be the occasional cumulus cloud here and there.
Do I dare?  Yes, I am going to say this looks like rain weather to me.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

4/12/11

Damn!  It is nice out!  And this weekend was freakin strange!  Temperatures have not dropped at all like I predicted they would.  There were also signs of a pretty bad storm on Sunday (wind direction and cloud type) but in the end nothing terrible came of it.  Today it is currently 68 degrees F and there is a light wind (5mph) from the Northwest.  There is a light blanket of cirro stratus clouds covering about 40 percent of the sky.
Tomorrow I predict will be a bit chillier, as we have a cold front moving in from the west, but other than that I don't expect any huge changes.

Thursday, April 7, 2011

4/7/11

Holy cow what a day!  Currently 63 degrees F and almost no cloud coverage!  A light wind (6 mph) out of the Southwest, but all it does is cool you down.  It is fantastic out there!
However, we do currently find ourselves in between two rain/storm systems and two fronts (one warm, one mixing) and if the wind keeps going from the Southwest, we may be hit by the tail end of one of the storms.  Regardless, I don't imagine the temperature will be dropping in any significance soon, maybe back down to the 50's and high 40's, but no more.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

4/5/11

Still no damn rain!  Though it is rather nice out.  Currently 53 degrees F, with cumulus cloud coverage, about 70 percent.  Wind today is rather blustery from the North/Northwest.
In light of this Northern wind and the clouds, I'm going to once again say rain tomorrow.  Temp will probably stay in the same range.

Monday, April 4, 2011

4/4/11

Well, the damn rain never came.  There was a light sprinkle on Friday night, but it wasn't near as much as I had anticipated.  It was a little cold today.  The temp was about 45 on average, but the wind, blowing it at about 10 mph from the Northeast makes it feel colder.  There is about 50 percent cloud coverage right now.  Mostly dark cumulus humulus.
Because of the stronger wind from the Northeast and the dark cloud coverage,  I am going to once again predict rainfall sometime this week.  I expect temperatures to stay about the same throughout the week.

Thursday, March 31, 2011

3/31/11

Alright, I have no idea whats going on.  This morning it was cloudy, and it looked like rain was inevitable.  This afternoon, it cleared up, and went from being 100 percent overcast to about 30 percent cumulus cloud cover. Right now, you can turn 360 degrees and see overcast skies, clear skies, and cloudy skies.  It is 45 degrees, we're caught in a low pressure system, and the wind is all over the place.
I'm not even gonna make a prediction, except rain and warmth, but even that I'm afraid to say.  I guess I'm just sticking by my guns, as it were.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

3/30/11

Well, I wasn't exactly right with my prediction yesterday.  Its still warming up, and the wind still blowing only mildly, but the cloud coverage has actually decreased from yesterday.  It is currently 45 degrees F, with a wind of about 4 mph out out the North/Northeast, and there is roughly 0 percent cloud coverage.
With the wind still coming out of the Northeast, I am still expecting a bit of rain sometime in the later stages of this week.  I anticipate wind wont change much until we get that rain, and temperature will stay very much the same throughout.

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

3/29/11

Another nice day out today, a little cool, but it is certainly warming up.  Currently it is 41 degrees F and there is scarcely a cloud in the sky.  Early today I think I might have seen some horsey tails, and there are faint traces of the same right now, but other than that it is clear.  The wind is still blowing in from the East, though not very strongly.
Because of the Easterly wind and the horsey tails, I do worry that we may see a bit of rain later in the week, I don't think it will hit us tomorrow, and think tomorrow will be a similar day with a bit more cloud coverage, but I don't think we're going to stay totally dry all week.

Monday, March 28, 2011

3/28/11

Okay!  Back in the saddle after a long break I guess.  The weather was, on the whole, pretty good over the break, though were a few nights where the snow and sleet were pretty terrible.  Seems to be getting better though, its been pretty warm over the past few days, and it is currently 33 degrees F, though i will say it feels a bit warmer due to the nice sunshine we've got pouring through the 0 percent cloud coverage.  The wind was blowing from the Northeast for most of the day, though now seems to be a coming primarily from the East.
I gotta say, I would have been confident in saying that the weather would have stayed nice over the next few days if it hadn't been for Joe's email.  Today, I'm gonna use it as a cop out until he explains what the heck is going on with the nice weather despite the wind patterns.  Hopefully I'll be able to give a more concrete and accurate prediction tomorrow.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

3/16/11

It would appear that I was for the most part dead on with my forecast yesterday.  It is currently 53 degrees F with a wind speed of about 7 mph coming from the Southwest.  One slight difference, though, is that it is not as clear as I thought it would be.  Currently there is a very fine blanket of stratus clouds covering the sky.  This blanket is so light, however, that it appears sunny and clear at first glance.
I am not expecting any rain tonight, but, though tomorrows forecast should once again be fairly similar to today, I wouldn't be at all surprised to be hit with some rain towards the afternoon and perhaps into the evening.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

3/15/11

Boy is it nice out.  The weather has slowly been improving since last Friday, gradually warming and melting and such.  Right now it's 47 degrees F and there is a light stratus blanket covering most of the sky, I would say around 90 %.  The wind is blowing at around 10 mph out of the Northeast, and there seems to be a pretty good chance of some rain later in the evening.
I wouldn't really expect the rain from tonight to last into the day tomorrow.  I do, however, expect the warm weather to remain.  I anticipate a day very similar, basically, minus some of the cloud coverage and the rain.

Thursday, March 10, 2011

3/10/11

My forecast for today seems to have been surprisingly accurate.  Like I predicted, we had no precipitation from yesterday morning, and today is warm (38 degrees F), fairly clear (30 percent coverage, cumulus clouds), and the wind is blowing very lightly (2 mph from the North).
Tomorrow will probably be a similar day, hopefully even a little warmer.  Though I don't expect anything too different in terms of wind and precipitation.

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

3/9/11

Today I'll make the claim that my prediction was partially right.  We did indeed get some snow, a few inches, and the sky is still overcast (stratus clouds, I think).  Currently it is not snowing, however, and the temp barley dropped at all, as right now it is about 34 degrees F.  There is virtually no wind, just a slight breeze blowing in from the Northeast.
It seems the snow blanket we were in seems to be passed us, so I'm not going to anticipate anymore snow, other than that I would think things to stay relatively same; warmer, a little bit cloud, and gentle winds, for the most part.

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

3/8/11

Well, I don't want to say I was wrong, but I wasn't really right either... Let's say my judgments were a little premature.
It's actually pretty nice out right now.  About 35 degrees F with a light Southeast wind.  No precipitation, and though it was clear earlier, a blanket of stratus clouds has moved in, making the sky completely overcast.
As I said, my prediction was premature.  So TOMORROW we will definitely get snow, maybe even tonight, and the temperature will most likely decrease slightly (hopefully not too much).

Monday, March 7, 2011

3/7/11

Overall, it was pretty nice out this weekend.  Friday was very much as i predicted it would be, and though we had a bit of snow last night, it clear and warmish for the most part.  Currently it is 32 degrees F and snowing just a bit.  For most of the day there was a light blanket of stratus clouds covering about 70 percent of the sky, and the wind has not been blowing very hard, maybe about 5 mph from the Northeast.
Eau Claire is currently right on the edge of a cold front, so sadly I would not be surprised to see the temperature drop a little bit tomorrow.  We also are finding ourself just South of a low pressure system.  This in combination with the Northeast wind may very bring that strong storm Hupy talked about in his email.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

3/3/11

Hooray for being right!  This morning we were indeed hit with a light snowfall, leaving about an inch total.  Also It is currently 32 degrees and completely overcast.  Also the wind is blowing from the Southeast, only not that hard.
Due to a low pressure system slightly North of us, I would expect the temp to warm up slightly, also I would imagine we will continue to get more precipitation into the weekend.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

3/2/11

Looks like that cold front did indeed bring in the cold weather, I'm sure I'm not the only one who is unhappy about that...  It is currently 17 degrees F and there is basically no wind right now (maybe 1 mph from the Northwest).  Its tough to say for the cloud coverage; it looks clear, so in some ways I can just say 'clear', though it also looks as though there is a very thin layer of stratus blanket clouds across the whole sky.  I will not say overcast, and I will not say clear... Lets just leave it at that.
Tomorrow, sadly, It does seem as if a blanket of snow will be coming in from the Northwest, and I use the term sadly, once again, but it does appear as if we will be hit by said snow blanket.  It should warm up slightly from today, though, on the plus side.

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

3/1/11

Looks like my forecast was partly right... It is indeed warmer than it was yesterday (currently 41 degrees F), and there is zero precipitation, but contrary to my belief, there are absolutely no clouds in the sky right now (there were light cirro-stratus clouds earlier, but not to the degree I expected).  The wind is blowing rather hard (about 17 mph) from the Northwest.
From the briefing today I've learned that there is a cold front in our area, so I expect tomorrow to be at least a bit colder than today is, though I still don't predict any precipitation and I wouldn't imagine heavy cloud coverage, though I would imagine the front will leave us with more clouds than today.

Monday, February 28, 2011

2/28/11

Rather nice out today, for the most part.  Was a little chilly, temp mostly in the upper 20's, currently 25 F, but the sun was out and even though cloud coverage was minimal (less than 20 percent) it still felt like the sun had a nice warming effect.  No precipitation, and only a light wind blowing in from the Northwest.
Tomorrow should be slightly more cloudy than today, and hopefully with that a bit warmer.  I wouldn't anticipate any snow or rain, and I don't imagine the wind will be a-whippin wildly either.

Thursday, February 24, 2011

2/24/11

This ones gotta be quick!  The temp is 31 degrees F, 80 % cloud coverage (stratus clouds?) and the wind is coming in from the north east at 2 mph.
I suspect tomorrow will be similar, though due to the clouds and wind, I will predict at least a light snowfall sometime on Friday.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

2/23/11

Despite the complete lack of sunshine, today has actually been rather nice.  It is currently 33.6 degrees F, though the internet is insisting that it feels like 34, the wind is blowing at about 6 mph from the South/Southwest, and like the rest of the day thus far, there is currently no precipritation, though the hummidity level is 67%.
Tomorrows forcast will likely be somewhat cooler than today, thought not by much. It should once again be overcast, and the wind should not be blowing unreasonably.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

2/22/11

Fairly nice out there today, temp right now is around 30 degrees F, feels like 21, but thats not too bad considering what we had recently.  Wind blowing in from the South/Southwest at about 8 mph, and there roughly 60 percent cloud coverage in the sky right now.
Tomorrow will probably warm up a bit, hopefully into the 30's, and it will probably be more cloudy than it is today.  I don't expect the wind to be terribly strong, and though there a chance of some snowfall, I'm not expecting much, if any at all.

Monday, February 21, 2011

2/21/11

Today was, unfortunately, much like yesterday, only, more unfortunately, it was slightly colder.  The temp is currently 18 degrees F, and was the same at around noon this afternoon.  Snow has been falling pretty consistently all day, and the sky has been completely covered with clouds throughout.  The wind hasn't been much of a problem though, blowing consistently around 10 mph from the northeast.
On the bright side, this basically leaves only room for improvement for tomorrow, and I would guess though tomorrow may be somewhat similar to today, that the temperature will warm up to at least in the 20's tomorrow and that the sun will show for at least part of the day.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

2/20/11

Wow.  Uhm... Hmm... Well, today is.... interesting... Especially considering how nice and not cold and snowy it was yesterday... If I recall, it was even wet outside from the snow having melted.   Today however, completely different story.  If you live in the Eau Claire area and you look outside, you will notice that the ground is covered in snow.  The temp is currently 27 degrees F, so it isn't actually that bad, and the snow is pretty cool I suppose.  Not much of a wind out there, very lightly blowing from the south east. This is all most likely caused by the Low pressure system to our southwest.
Tomorrow's conditions will likely be very similar; chilly, snowy, and fairly calm feeling (not much wind, that is to say).

Friday, February 18, 2011

2/18/11

I fear today is somewhat less pleasant than those of the recent past.  Currently, the temperature resides at 30 degrees Fahrenheit, though the air itself feels somewhat more chilled.  The wind is coming in at about 9 mph from the Northwest, the dew point is 16 degrees F, and the sky is almost perfectly clear.
Tomorrow seems to be shaping up to be a very similar day, perhaps accompanied with more clouds, however, which hopefully will warm the air to a more pleasant temperature.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

2/17/11

A foggy morning, very foggy, but a rather nice day again.  The wind was rather mild, maybe 2 mph blowing from the Southeast, and the temp was once again beautiful (it is currently 46 degrees F).  The cloud coverage is very much overcast, and there is much moisture in the air. The dew point is 41 degrees F.
Tomorrow should be a very similar day, the warm front that came in today should remain until at least tomorrow night, and the water vapor level may drop a bit, giving us less fog and maybe even a peek at the sun.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

2/16/11

What a day!  Warm as hell it is!  Currently 47 degrees F, roughly 16% cloud coverage, sunny, and almost no wind!  Unfortunately, it does seem as if some clouds are soon going to be rolling in from the south.
Tomorrow, judging by the clouds, I will guess it may be a little colder than today, and perhaps even a light rain may hit us.  I'm guessing it'll still be fairly warm though.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

2/15/11

The weather is beautiful out, though I cannot say I feel the same inside.  My mother is a teacher at UWRF, and I fear even the beautiful weather cannot calm the other storm.  Regardless, it is currently clear out, 41 degrees F, and a slight wind is blowing from the south.
Tomorrow's weather will likely be the same once again, perhaps a bit more cloudy and perhaps even a bit warmer, but no severe changes.

Monday, February 14, 2011

2/14/11

Once again, what a day!  Beautiful temperature (though slightly colder than yesterday), almost no wind, and a fairly clear sky!  Currently it is 36.7 degrees F, which is slightly colder than it was this afternoon, and clouds are beginning to roll in from the Northeast, but a majority of the day saw roughly 15 % cloud cover only.  There was no precipitation and like I said, the wind was barley even a factor for most of the day.
Tomorrow is looking like its going to be similar once again, perhaps still effects of the warm front that recently passed over, but temperatures should be up in the 30's like they were today, and even though it may be a little bit more cloudy, it should still be fairly nice over all.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

2/13/11

Holy cow is it nice out there!  And it has been getting nice all weekend!  Except for Friday morning, which was somewhat bitterly cold.  Friday also gave us a light snowfall in the afternoon, and it did indeed begin to warm up Friday night.  Saturday was also warm, and centered at around 32 degrees F.  It was mostly clear, with a light cloud cover, and even into the evening it remained quite warm.  Currently, it is 43.3 degrees F and there isn't a cloud in the sky.  Looks like that warm front moved in alright, let's just hope this keeps up!
Tomorrow I'm predicting will be similar to today, though a little colder, maybe somewhere around the mid 30's, and it will probably be a bit more cloudy.  But, all in all, this will certainly be nicer than the weather we have been having!

Thursday, February 10, 2011

2/10/11

Today was, as predicted, much like yesterday.  It even felt a little warmer and there was a lot less ice on the river than yesterday as well.  Its currently about 15 degrees F, its sunny, maybe 8 % cloud coverage, and the wind is hardly making a peep.
From today's weather presentation, we know that we can expect some similar weather tomorrow and even a warm spurt in the late afternoon.  Winds will probably be coming in from the north west, and we should once again have very clear skies.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

2/9/11

Today was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  It was still clear out, maybe 5% cloud coverage once again, and even though it was only 9 degrees Fahrenheit, it did not feel as cold as the -15 we felt yesterday.  The wind today was also more mild, about 5 mph calmly blowing from the west.
with this in mind, I'm going to predict another increase in temperature tomorrow, about the same wind speed/wind chill, and another fairly sunny day.  I hope I'm right, because I'd really like to kick this cold spurt.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

2/8/11

Oh boy, if yesterday was miserable, today was just plain old hell.  Maybe 5% cloud coverage and a blistering wind from the West.  The temperature got up at one point to about 5 degrees Fahrenheit, but then quickly reverted back to about 2, and all the while it felt somewhere around -15.
I expect the sky to stay clear, the wind to stay bitter, and the temperature to stay cold.  Winter sucks.

Monday, February 7, 2011

2/7/11

Today was cold.  17 degrees Fahrenheit.  With a bitter wind from the northwest.  There were also clouds, roughly 90% coverage.  No snow today either.  But the main thing was the cold.  That cold, man, it was brutal.
Judging from the northwest wind, tomorrow will probably be something similar to today's, cold, cloudy, accompanied by a bitter wind that makes everyone miserable, and I'm even gonna go as far as to say that it will probably snow.

Sunday, February 6, 2011

2/6/11

The weather over the weekend was rather nice, despite the lack of sun.  Cloud cover was practically 100% on Saturday, and around 50% on Sunday.  The temperature on both days was right around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and the wind on each day was rather mild and from the northwest.  Neither day recorded any snowfall.
Based on the wind direction and speed, I would guess tomorrow is going to be a very similar day, with around 75% cloud coverage, a mild wind from the north, a lack of snowfall, and warm temperatures in the high 20's and low 30's.

Friday, February 4, 2011

2/4/11

The weather today was (has been thus far) quite nice, actually.  With an average temperature of about 32 degrees Fahrenheit, roughly 0% cloud coverage, and only a mild wind coming from the southwest, it certainly feels like the groundhog has indeed not seen his shadow!
I'm going to hop aboard the spring train, and, perhaps more based on desire than knowledge, I will predict tomorrow to be again warm (around 32), sunny, and with an even lighter wind coming from the south again.

Thursday, February 3, 2011

2/3/11

Todays weather was somewhat similar to yesterdays, the temp was warmer, around 20 degrees for most of the day, though it felt colder because of the wind (stronger than average, from the south).  It was again clear today, with roughly 5% cloud coverage.  Once again the city of Eau Claire was snowless.
Based on todays weather, I will predict that tomorrow will be a very similar day, with slight differences in cloud coverage (I will guess more cloud coverage tomorrow), temperature (slightly warmer), and a bit less windy.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

2/2/11

Today's weather was quite different from what I predicted it would be.  In fact, just about the only similarity was that it was still Winter today.  The sky was clear, practically 0 % cloud coverage, and the wind today came in from the west, not the north.  It wasn't a particularly strong wind, I would call it mild myself, and the temperature was about 12 degrees Fahrenheit, colder than yesterday's 20.
In light of today's weather I must admit that I have no idea what to expect tomorrow.  I'm going to guess that it will be cold, Somewhere around 15 degrees Fahrenheit, and clear out like it was today.  I will predict a southern wind blowing a bit harder than it did today.  And I will say that I am anticipating zero snowfall tomorrow.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

2/1/11

The weather today was indeed quite similar to yesterdays, 100 % cloud coverage with a wind coming in from the North/Northeast.  It did feel a tiny bit colder, probably because the wind felt a bit more chilled than yesterday, but the temperature was around 20 degrees fahrenheit for the majority of day.  The only large difference was that today we did not get any snowfall or any kind of precipitation.
I would predict that tomorrow will be, once again, a very similar day.  With full or close to full cloud coverage, a wind from the North, and around 20 degree weather.  Once again, I will guess that there will be little to no snowfall tomorrow.

Monday, January 31, 2011

1/31/11

The general appearance of the weather today was overcast, 100% cloud coverage for the entire day.  Light snow flurries pretty consistant throughout the day, I would estimate we here in EC got about 3 inches of snow over the course of the day.  The temperature was around 20 degrees fahrenheit, all day, but felt colder after the sun went down.  There was a slow wind (around 8 mph) coming into the northeast for most of the day, and based on what I know about northeasterly winds, (which is very little, let me tell you) I would assume tomorrow will be a day much like today only with slightly less prepcipitation.
Thanks for reading my first weather post!  Hopefully I didn't do too bad, see you tomorrow,
Dan
