3/31/11

Alright, I have no idea whats going on.  This morning it was cloudy, and it looked like rain was inevitable.  This afternoon, it cleared up, and went from being 100 percent overcast to about 30 percent cumulus cloud cover. Right now, you can turn 360 degrees and see overcast skies, clear skies, and cloudy skies.  It is 45 degrees, we're caught in a low pressure system, and the wind is all over the place.
I'm not even gonna make a prediction, except rain and warmth, but even that I'm afraid to say.  I guess I'm just sticking by my guns, as it were.

3/30/11

Well, I wasn't exactly right with my prediction yesterday.  Its still warming up, and the wind still blowing only mildly, but the cloud coverage has actually decreased from yesterday.  It is currently 45 degrees F, with a wind of about 4 mph out out the North/Northeast, and there is roughly 0 percent cloud coverage.
With the wind still coming out of the Northeast, I am still expecting a bit of rain sometime in the later stages of this week.  I anticipate wind wont change much until we get that rain, and temperature will stay very much the same throughout.

3/29/11

Another nice day out today, a little cool, but it is certainly warming up.  Currently it is 41 degrees F and there is scarcely a cloud in the sky.  Early today I think I might have seen some horsey tails, and there are faint traces of the same right now, but other than that it is clear.  The wind is still blowing in from the East, though not very strongly.
Because of the Easterly wind and the horsey tails, I do worry that we may see a bit of rain later in the week, I don't think it will hit us tomorrow, and think tomorrow will be a similar day with a bit more cloud coverage, but I don't think we're going to stay totally dry all week.

3/28/11

Okay!  Back in the saddle after a long break I guess.  The weather was, on the whole, pretty good over the break, though were a few nights where the snow and sleet were pretty terrible.  Seems to be getting better though, its been pretty warm over the past few days, and it is currently 33 degrees F, though i will say it feels a bit warmer due to the nice sunshine we've got pouring through the 0 percent cloud coverage.  The wind was blowing from the Northeast for most of the day, though now seems to be a coming primarily from the East.
I gotta say, I would have been confident in saying that the weather would have stayed nice over the next few days if it hadn't been for Joe's email.  Today, I'm gonna use it as a cop out until he explains what the heck is going on with the nice weather despite the wind patterns.  Hopefully I'll be able to give a more concrete and accurate prediction tomorrow.

3/16/11

It would appear that I was for the most part dead on with my forecast yesterday.  It is currently 53 degrees F with a wind speed of about 7 mph coming from the Southwest.  One slight difference, though, is that it is not as clear as I thought it would be.  Currently there is a very fine blanket of stratus clouds covering the sky.  This blanket is so light, however, that it appears sunny and clear at first glance.
I am not expecting any rain tonight, but, though tomorrows forecast should once again be fairly similar to today, I wouldn't be at all surprised to be hit with some rain towards the afternoon and perhaps into the evening.

3/15/11

Boy is it nice out.  The weather has slowly been improving since last Friday, gradually warming and melting and such.  Right now it's 47 degrees F and there is a light stratus blanket covering most of the sky, I would say around 90 %.  The wind is blowing at around 10 mph out of the Northeast, and there seems to be a pretty good chance of some rain later in the evening.
I wouldn't really expect the rain from tonight to last into the day tomorrow.  I do, however, expect the warm weather to remain.  I anticipate a day very similar, basically, minus some of the cloud coverage and the rain.

3/10/11

My forecast for today seems to have been surprisingly accurate.  Like I predicted, we had no precipitation from yesterday morning, and today is warm (38 degrees F), fairly clear (30 percent coverage, cumulus clouds), and the wind is blowing very lightly (2 mph from the North).
Tomorrow will probably be a similar day, hopefully even a little warmer.  Though I don't expect anything too different in terms of wind and precipitation.

3/9/11

Today I'll make the claim that my prediction was partially right.  We did indeed get some snow, a few inches, and the sky is still overcast (stratus clouds, I think).  Currently it is not snowing, however, and the temp barley dropped at all, as right now it is about 34 degrees F.  There is virtually no wind, just a slight breeze blowing in from the Northeast.
It seems the snow blanket we were in seems to be passed us, so I'm not going to anticipate anymore snow, other than that I would think things to stay relatively same; warmer, a little bit cloud, and gentle winds, for the most part.

3/8/11

Well, I don't want to say I was wrong, but I wasn't really right either... Let's say my judgments were a little premature.
It's actually pretty nice out right now.  About 35 degrees F with a light Southeast wind.  No precipitation, and though it was clear earlier, a blanket of stratus clouds has moved in, making the sky completely overcast.
As I said, my prediction was premature.  So TOMORROW we will definitely get snow, maybe even tonight, and the temperature will most likely decrease slightly (hopefully not too much).

3/7/11

Overall, it was pretty nice out this weekend.  Friday was very much as i predicted it would be, and though we had a bit of snow last night, it clear and warmish for the most part.  Currently it is 32 degrees F and snowing just a bit.  For most of the day there was a light blanket of stratus clouds covering about 70 percent of the sky, and the wind has not been blowing very hard, maybe about 5 mph from the Northeast.
Eau Claire is currently right on the edge of a cold front, so sadly I would not be surprised to see the temperature drop a little bit tomorrow.  We also are finding ourself just South of a low pressure system.  This in combination with the Northeast wind may very bring that strong storm Hupy talked about in his email.

3/3/11

Hooray for being right!  This morning we were indeed hit with a light snowfall, leaving about an inch total.  Also It is currently 32 degrees and completely overcast.  Also the wind is blowing from the Southeast, only not that hard.
Due to a low pressure system slightly North of us, I would expect the temp to warm up slightly, also I would imagine we will continue to get more precipitation into the weekend.

3/2/11

Looks like that cold front did indeed bring in the cold weather, I'm sure I'm not the only one who is unhappy about that...  It is currently 17 degrees F and there is basically no wind right now (maybe 1 mph from the Northwest).  Its tough to say for the cloud coverage; it looks clear, so in some ways I can just say 'clear', though it also looks as though there is a very thin layer of stratus blanket clouds across the whole sky.  I will not say overcast, and I will not say clear... Lets just leave it at that.
Tomorrow, sadly, It does seem as if a blanket of snow will be coming in from the Northwest, and I use the term sadly, once again, but it does appear as if we will be hit by said snow blanket.  It should warm up slightly from today, though, on the plus side.

3/1/11

Looks like my forecast was partly right... It is indeed warmer than it was yesterday (currently 41 degrees F), and there is zero precipitation, but contrary to my belief, there are absolutely no clouds in the sky right now (there were light cirro-stratus clouds earlier, but not to the degree I expected).  The wind is blowing rather hard (about 17 mph) from the Northwest.
From the briefing today I've learned that there is a cold front in our area, so I expect tomorrow to be at least a bit colder than today is, though I still don't predict any precipitation and I wouldn't imagine heavy cloud coverage, though I would imagine the front will leave us with more clouds than today.
